This design is by Jillybean Fitzhenry. So many wanted to paint it that I obtained permission to teach this to our Chapter. It is wonderful and you will love him. The jungle frame is from Michael's. Supplies 2" foam brush, white graphite, stylus, paper towels, water bowl, palette and other basic painting supplies.
Brushes #2 ROUND 20/0 SCRIPT 1/4" ANGLE #4 WAVE FILBERT (if you have one) or #2 and #4 STIPPLE BRUSH Note: The #4 Wave Filbert is used to "stipple" this design in certain areas. We can get the same affect using a stipple brush gently where needed.
This adds texture to the design. Bring
any other brushes you might be comfortable using. Surface:
5x7 Canvas (any brand) - OR paint on your own
surface. Prep: Basecoat canvas with 2-3 coats of Lamp Black. Transfer the pattern using white graphite paper and stylus. Fur: Use stipple brush & Medium White. Ears: Top half of ears are filled in solid with Medium White using a round brush. Outline the bottom edge with Medium White and a script brush. Create the ear hair lines going from the bottom edge into the center using the tips of the Wave Filbert. Thin the paint with 50% water for this step. Horns: Fur in the top circles as the same as the ear hair. Eyes: Fill in the iris circle with Medium White first, then Indian Yellow using a round brush. Highlight Fur: Use the Wave Filbert to stipple Titanium White in the highlight areas as shown in the photo. Note: Do not cover Solid.
