Chris Haughey gave CCC permission to publish this cute Lamp Post and Bird design along with the instructions so you can paint up some cans for the Greens Show.  A pattern can easily be drawn from the step-by-step picture.

Lantern:  Basecoat entire lantern dolphin grey.  Start at the top, using a 3/4" angular shader & shade down the right side of the roof and knob with soft black, walking out shading almost to the center.  Deepen the shading with black down the right side and along bottom of roof.  Use 3/8" angular shader with thinned down wedgwood blue and lightly highlight down left side of roof and knob.  Shade along bottom of rim & base first with soft black, then black.  Use same brush and highlight top of rim with the wedgwood.  Use 1/8" angular shader to shade soft black down the outsides of lantern.  Paint the base same as the top rim.  Shade down each inside of the pole with soft black, then black. Use white and a liner to add highlights to knob, down roof, across top and bottom rims, down each side and down pole.

Candle:  Float a circle of candlelight around flame.  Base in candle in white.  Shade spice brown down both sides.  Float a smaller circle of mellow yellow inside the flame.  Line the wick in burnt umber.  Basecoat flame maple sugar tan & shade raw sienna around the bottom of the flame.  Highlight down right side with candlelight.  Use stylus to put a tiny dot of white at the top of the flame.  Use white to add drips on top of the candle and shade the drips with spice brown.

Birds:   Basecoat birds gypsy rose.  Shade them with moroccan red.  Darken shading with Barn red.  Using a 3/8" angular shader, highlight feathers, wings, heads and tummy with candlelight.  Brighten the highlight with another float of white.  Base beaks in maple sugar tan.  Shade bottom of beak raw sienna and highlight tip with candlelight.  Thin down black and add tiny nostrils with a liner.  Dip-dot eyes black with stylus and drag up to make an oval shape.  Add a tiny dolphin grey highlight along bottom and up right sides with liner.  Thin down cadet blue and paint bows using a liner.

Smile because it's finally finished!  Spray and bring to next meeting for the Greens Show!
