NOTE CARD CONTEST

The chapter will be producing note cards from paintings by the talented artists in our midst. The cards will be given as thank you gifts to visiting teachers, used in the Memory Box Program communications and sold in our Chapter Store as well as the Greens Show. We look on this endeavor as an opportunity to share a true representation of our chapter and the varied painting styles that make up our group. It is our hope that this will also an on going fund raiser.

Our chapter covers the territory from the Salem area to the Eugene area, from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascades.

We rotate our monthly meetings from Eugene to Salem to Waldport. We meet on the second Saturday of every month and welcome new members and interested painters at every level.

About our Chapter

Decorative painting is a diverse art form utilizing a variety of techniques and media to decorate functional and non-functional surfaces. Tole painting is the general term historically used to describe decorative painting on tin surfaces, but today we paint on any surface including wood, glass, fabric and tin.

On June 18, 2001, eight members of the Society of Decorative Painters met in Springfield, Oregon, to form the Coast to the Cascades Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. Any member who joined during the first year is considered a "Charter" member. The Chapter meets on the Second Saturday of each month. Click on the month in the contents bar for details of each meeting.

Our membership covers a large area between the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountain Range. Because of this large area, we have chosen to rotate our place of meetings each month between the Coast and the I-5 Corridor.
