Dear Misha Painting Fans,

        I tugged, pulled and yanked several strings and I landed us a different location with a much lower rent. This means a lower class fee for all of us! HOORAY!!!! J This will bring the class fee down to the bare bones rock bottom price of *$80 per day with the majority of that going directly to Misha’s teaching fee. (He charges per student per day rather than a flat rate fee like most teachers.) *There is still an extra $10 fee for the Friday pattern packet, while the Weekend pattern packet will be provided for free.

 

The coaster box for Friday’s project can be purchased from Viking Woods, and if you mention your SDP number when you order, you will receive and extra 30% off the total price of your order. WOW! Weekend Surface

The wood source for the weekend project can be found at Stephs Folk Art Studio - www.stephsfolkart.com.   They also have a few other wood pieces that would work nicely. 

 

 

  I’m still searching for a suitable surface and source for the weekend project. If anyone has any ideas please let me know so I can pass it along to everyone. You can see from the photos that the design is rectangular and 5” x 14”, so if you know of any trays, boxes or wall hangings that might work well please point them out to me sooner than later, thank you.      

 

Lunch

        To aid in keeping down the seminar cost we will be having potluck lunches. For those of you attending from out of town, you may bring something if you wish, or let me know in advance and for $5 per day I will provide additional food items for you. The original location I considered did not allow outside food on the premises, and the rent included the price of lunch at their $mall re$taurant.

 

Prep Work 

        You will receive your pattern packet once I have your deposit and registration form (please see below). You can then begin your prep work. Misha says it is much easier for everyone to start at stage one together so there will be very little prep work…..HOORAY! All you will need to do before class is the usual sanding, sealing, and putting on the background basecoat color and your pattern. All of the rest will be done in class.

 

New Location

The new location is in Bremerton WA instead of Poulsbo. All of the hotels recommended in the original post below are still really close about a 5-7 mile drive to the seminar location. The Subase lodge is about a 10 mile drive, which is by for the best price of about $60 per night and can sleep 4 to a room.

Dear Russian Zhostovo Painting Fans,

          There is an important twist and an exciting turn concerning the upcoming Misha seminar. While the dates remain October 17, 18, & 19 of 2008; now however, we will be painting two different Zhostovo projects with Misha instead of just one! That’s right, because the floral we’ve selected is only a two day project, we now have one whole day (Friday) to paint another project!

I’ve had several painters ask for either a fruit design or a roses design. So, I’m working with Misha to determine which of those he can have ready for a one day project. He has only been developing new designs (without his previous partner Trish) for about a year now and he might have to create something new and beautiful just for us. We’ll get to see that design in early August, so stay tuned, and I will let you know.

 

Since we now have two different painting projects instead just the one, the payment plan for this seminar is changed slightly. The seminar fee is still $120 per day, and Misha still offers the two day seminar pattern packet free of charge. However, all those who wish to paint the Friday project please include an extra $10 for that pattern packet.

 

For those of you who have not yet reserved your seat, please complete the registration form below and include at least a $120 deposit to reserve your seat. Please indicate the date(s) you wish to attend, and remember that deposits are non-refundable.

 

For those of you who have already sent your full seminar payment, if you now wish to only take the two day seminar, I will gladly refund your Friday seminar fee. I feel that’s only fair, but in fairness to Misha, this offer will only be made once. I will contact those of you in this situation to confirm your intentions.

 

Only after I have received your payment in full, will I mail out your pattern packets so that you can start your prep work. Actually, there will be VERY LITTLE prep work for these projects. All you’ll need to do is the usual prep of sanding, sealing, base-coating the background, then placing the pattern onto your piece! Misha will take us though each of the remaining stages of the project step by step! J

 

Painting Surfaces: Misha prefers that you paint on a wood surface. You may paint on whatever wood surface your heart desires, so dust off some of those old wood pieces and bring them along; we’ll turn them into real pretties! 

 

Back Ground Color: If you wish to change the background color to a black, dark blue, or darker green this will be fine. HINT: I have personally found that darker background colors are easiest for beginners. J

 

Seminar Time: Doors will open at 8:30 AM each morning. Class will start at 9:00 AM and we will finish at about 4:30 -5:00 PM.

 

Lodging: I have included links to local hotels ranging in price from $59 - $130 per night. (Regular prices without any discounts, so ask about them when you call)

These are very nice suites and have plenty of room for four adults in one room with two queen beds, (but I was told only two adults per room.J) They provide a continental breakfast & a light dinner each evening which is included in the price of your stay.

 

 http://www.oxfordinnsilverdale.com  Formally the Cimarron Hotel. This place was completely remolded about five years ago.

 

http://www.silverdalebeachhotel.com Formally the Red Lion Inn, many of you who have been to some of the seminars I have put on in the past have stayed have stayed here before. I do not think they have done any remodels to the rooms just changed their name.

 

All three places listed above are located downtown Silverdale about a half mile from the Kitsap mall. There are many restaurants within walking distance and around the mall area. There is also a Safeway, Albertsons, Red Apple & Costco, very close by where you would be able to find some very inexpensive meals or snack!

 

http://www.poulsboinn.com If you prefer to stay in Poulsbo I have recently received information from a gal who stayed at the Poulsbo inn. She said these rooms were large enough for the four of them to stay in. They have recently remodeled and have kitchens where you can fix your own meals. They also provide you with a continual breakfast each morning that she said was quit good.

 

http://hamptoninn.hilton.com located in Bremerton on the waterfront. This is a new place built a couple of years ago down town located next to the ferry terminal, a small park and several restaurants.

https://www.navy-lodge.com For those of you who have military base access, Subase Bangor has a nice Navy Lodge that you might wish to check out. Just remember base drills can sometimes lead to the base gates closing at any given time without notice!
