Scholarship Guidelines

The Coast to the Cascades Scholarship fund was established to assist chapter members who are interested in developing their painting skills and/or increasing their knowledge of the decorative painting field.  Annual dues, teaching and class scholarships as well as scholarships for chapter seminars will be awarded to chapter members.

Scholarship Standards:

1)     Your request for a scholarship must be submitted in writing to the chapter President by completing a “Scholarship Application Form”.

2)     Deadline:  Your request must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the dues renewal, seminar, teaching or class date to be accepted. (This allows the Board time to review your request and have the necessary funds paid by the due date).

3)     Limitations:

·        Up to three (3) membership renewal scholarships will be awarded per year (both SDP & Chapter dues).

·        Seminar/class scholarships will be awarded on a case-by-case basis.

·        Board will approve scholarships which are $200 or less.  Any scholarship request over the $200 limitation will need to be approved by the full chapter.

Scholarship Criteria:

1)     Must be a Coast to the Cascades Chapter member in good standing and have been a member for at least one (1) year prior to the date of making application, to be eligible for a scholarship.

2)     You must provide information describing your need(s) for the scholarship and why you are making application.

3)     If granted a scholarship, you shall understand that to receive a scholarship requires you to provide assistance in the chapters’ areas of need.  i.e. hospitality, website, historian, etc.

4)     If granted a “teaching” scholarship, you must volunteer to teach the technique you learned to the chapter members within one (1) year from the date in which you took the class – forfeiting your right to the teachers fee.

Please note:  The more information you provide regarding; your need(s), the chapter assistance you are willing to provide, your history with the chapter, your reason(s) for applying and/or your decorative painting goals will better assist the Board in making their decision concerning your request for scholarship.

Board Review:

Awarding scholarships shall be based on the following:

1)                  Requestor has met all qualifications for receipt of the scholarship. i.e. requestor submitted written request w/in 60 days, member years met, etc.

2)                 Requestor’s need for the scholarship and reason(s) for making application.

3)                 Coast to the Cascades Chapter areas of need and the requestor’s willingness to provide assistance in those areas of need.

4)                 Requestor’s prior history with the Board, i.e. Dues/class fees, attendance and attitude = “Good Standing”.

Please note:  No scholarship(s) will be awarded if the Board finds that no applicant meets the specified criteria/qualifications OR if sufficient funds are not available.
